In the last lecture, we evaluated the gravitational potential due to a spherical shell type mass using the direct integration method. In this lecture, we learn how to directly calculate the gravitational field vector and then use that to evaluate the potential Note that for some problems, using the direct integration method is easier, and for some problems, Poisson's equation of gravitation would be easier.
